Happy to meet you, I'm Dominique

Everyday I think to myself, How Lucky Are We?

To My Dad—and Every Amazing Father Out There—Happy Father’s Day

A Father’s Love Is a Quiet Kind of Strength

There are some roles in life that come without instruction manuals, without time off, and without enough thank-yous. Being a father is one of them.

Father’s Day is more than a celebration. It’s a reminder to stop and honor the men who shape our lives with strength, love, and unwavering commitment. The ones who carry the emotional and practical weight of a family. The ones who lead by example, who sacrifice silently, and who show up in the ways that matter most.

My dad is one of those men.

He has always been more than just a parent. He’s been my rock, my guide, my cheerleader, and my protector. He was the first man I ever loved—the first one who showed me what it means to be loved unconditionally, without limits or expectations.

From scraped knees to heartbreaks, big dreams to hard lessons, my dad has been there for it all. His words, actions, and presence have shaped the core of who I am today.

Life Lessons from Dad

There are a few things he’s taught me that I carry with me every day—some serious, some funny, all unforgettable:

  • “This too shall pass.” A quiet reminder, passed down from his father, that no matter how tough life feels in the moment, it won’t last forever. Strength comes from surviving the storm and knowing the sun will return.
  • “Cheers to those who wish us well. All the rest can go to hell.” Blunt, yes. But it’s one of my favorite quotes from him. It taught me to value people who lift you up—and not to waste energy on those who don’t.
  • “Cowgirls don’t cry.” Some may find this phrase outdated, but for me, it became a mantra for inner strength. He raised me to face life head-on, not to break under pressure, and to know my own power.

But his lessons weren’t just in his words. They were in the way he lived.

He showed me how to be dependable, trustworthy, and honest. How to laugh through life’s chaos and find joy in the little things. How to treat others with respect—and to demand it in return.

To Every Father Out There—Thank You

While this post is deeply personal, it’s not just about my dad. It’s for every father, stepfather, grandfather, father figure, and mentor who has loved a child as their own.

To the dads waking up early and staying up late. To the ones juggling work, family, and responsibilities that often go unnoticed. To the fathers who are present, even when it’s hard. To those who love fiercely, guide gently, and teach by example—you are the true heroes.

You may not always hear it, but you are appreciated. You are seen. You matter.

There’s something extraordinary about a father’s love—it’s often quieter than a mother’s, but no less powerful. It’s in the sacrifices made without complaint, the steady hand on your shoulder, the support that never wavers.

What I’ve Learned Watching My Dad

Growing up, I had the unique gift of watching a great man love and care for not just me, but my mom, his parents, and everyone around him. I saw what loyalty looks like in a marriage. I saw what responsibility looks like when you put your family first. I saw the kind of man I hope to someday raise my future children with—the kind who leads with love and lives with purpose.

He didn’t just tell me to believe in myself—he showed me how. Whether it was in sports, school, or some of my many random “side quests,” he was there. Always encouraging, always believing.

He taught me that failure isn’t the end. That hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t try. That I could be anyone, do anything, as long as I did it with heart.

To My Dad—My Hero, My Teacher, My Forever Protector

Dad, for my entire life, you’ve been my safe place. My protector. My moral compass. My strength when I didn’t have my own. You’ve raised me to be a strong woman, a kind human, and a fearless dreamer. And for that, I owe everything to you—and to Mom, too.

No matter how grown I get, I will always be your little girl. Your sunshine. The one who ran to you with scraped knees and big dreams. And I’ll never stop being grateful for every moment you’ve given me, and every lesson you’ve taught me.

To every dad who shows up with love and loyalty—this day is for you.

Happy Father’s Day to the men who give their all. May you always know how much you’re loved, respected, and admired.
