If you’re planning a road trip through Tennessee, make sure to include a stop at Little Debbie Park in Collegedale. It was one of the most fun and unexpected parts of our family’s drive from Tennessee to Florida. The park is clean, spacious, safe, and full of life—a perfect place to stretch your legs and enjoy something unique.
A Park with a Purpose
Little Debbie Park opened in June 2023. It was built through a partnership between McKee Foods—the makers of Little Debbie snacks—and the City of Collegedale. McKee Foods donated the land to the city, transforming it into a free, public space for families and community events.
This park isn’t just about snacks; it’s about bringing people together. That goal is clear the moment you arrive.
Life-Sized Snacks and Childhood Wonder
One of the coolest features of the park is the set of life-size Little Debbie snack sculptures. There’s a giant Oatmeal Creme Pie, a Cosmic Brownie climbing wall, and a Christmas Tree Cake you can pose with or play around.
These oversized treats were actually inspired by the movie Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. In the film, there’s a scene where the kids find and eat a giant creme pie. The designers wanted to recreate that sense of fun and wonder—and they succeeded.
Inclusive, Interactive, and Family-Friendly
This park was clearly designed with all families in mind. It features:
- A sensory dome climber
- High-backed swings
- Plenty of space for wheelchairs and mobility devices
When we visited, the park was full of families, and everyone—from toddlers to grandparents—seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Community Events That Make It Special
We arrived during setup for a movie night in the park, which we thought was a great way to connect the community and give families something fun to look forward to. Even more exciting—they were also preparing for the Banana Pudding Festival!
This local event featured:
- Food trucks
- Local vendors
- Live music
- Banana pudding, of course!
The park isn’t just a playground. It’s a true community hub full of life and events that make it worth stopping for.
Why These Stops Matter on a Road Trip
One of the best parts of taking a road trip instead of flying is finding little surprises like this. Not every special place is a “destination city”—some of the most memorable spots are the unexpected ones. Little Debbie Park turned out to be one of those stops that made our trip more fun and meaningful.
